A special hike in the heart of the Marble Villages, where everything is built only of stone and marble.
Hike all the way to the place which inspired dozens of famous artists, and the birthplace of sculptor Giannoulis Halepas.
The hike starts with a tour in Pyrgos village alleys, where marble really exists everywhere. You visit the Marble Museum where you learn about the marble history of Tinos. Then you have a break at the village square, famous for the delicious sweets served in the traditional cafes.
Pyrgos has a special connection with marble. It is the place where many Tinian sculptors worked on marble, but also the material itself "sculpted" many generations whose livelihood depended on marble. Tons of Tinian marble have been exported all over the Mediterranean and also dozens of Tinian marble sculptors have travelled to these places for a better life.
After your break, you continue your hiking to Panormos, a picturesque bay with several fish taverns. During Medieval times, Panormos was one of the four main ports of the island.
Then you continue to beautiful Rohari beach and uphill back to Pyrgos.
