In this private cooking lesson in our beautiful village, we try to use only organic and local ingredients and focus on traditional Greek and local Naxian recipes. The cooking course takes place either in the noon or afternoon. Since it is a private tour the starting time is up to you to fix, make sure it is close to your usual lunch or dinner time).
Your host family welcomes you to their home with traditional sweet preserves and shares their secrets and recipes. You put your kitchen apron on and start cooking the main course which usually is "gemista" (tomatoes and bell peppers stuffed with rice) or "soutzoukakia" (spicy meatballs in fresh tomato sauce).
Next, you make a short visit to the farm to collect some fruits and vegetables. After that, with the goodies you have handpicked, you prepare "kolokythokeftedes" (deep-fried zucchini balls), "tzatziki" (dip with yogurt, garlic, and cucumber), and a Greek salad which then you enjoy together on the family table. For dessert, there is traditional "risogalo" (rice pudding), "moustalevria" (must pudding), and "loukoumades" (fried cakes with honey).
Bon appetite and cheers!

The host was so nice and the friendly atmosphere made us feel like home. I loved every second of this experience and even got to learn how to cook Greek food and especially the traditional tzatziki which I'm really excited about!!!! 5 FULL STARS!!!!!!
I love Greek cruises! Now I know to cook Greek foods. I am so excited about this experience!!
This is the best restaurant we’ve visited so far on our trip to Greece. The cooking class was fun and the food—-a feast!!! Excellent job. A well organized meal and wonderful people. Highly recommend it.
Gloriously delicious food from starters to desserts, almost all ingredients from owners garden, advanced traditional recipes, very friendly stuff providing great service, pet friendly, nice village view and surroundings, serene and still vivid ambient, huge parking available, and…cooking class from the lady chef! We dinned
Very friendly host who welcomes you in a dominant white coloured restaurant. Great atmosphere, delightful meals where the freshness of the ingredients surprises you. Just give it a try!
This was a truly amazing experience! I was with a group of 5 and we were greeted upon arrival with a lovely spread of snacks and raki. After preparing our meal and getting some great pics and laughs, we headed down to the farm to
We have gotten into the habit of attending cooking classes on vacation and in Naxos this was the one we chose. It was fabulous. This is a family run business of three generations and everyone is engaged, super friendly and fun. Grandmother and daughter Maria
My family and I had a cooking class here this morning, and it was amazing! We first were offered wonderful snacks/breakfast. Then we made and ate stuffed vegetables, fried zucchini balls, fresh fried potatoes, snd tzatziki sauce. The family was so friendly and welcoming, and
This is a local taverna located in Galini, a small pretty village only 10’ away from the Naxos’s chora. Our hotel made the recommendation. It was THE BEST meal of our trip. We were the only tourists that day, and it was packed with locals
We enjoyed the food 3 times during our stay at Palatiana Agroturismo. The beef in tomato sauce was delicious as was the veal with aubergines. They do take away as well. Very welcoming staff looking to make your meal enjoyable. Even locals from Chora are
We have been here with good friends during vacation. What an amazing experience !! The food is original, strictly local and very well cooked. Highly recommended, a must see in Naxos !!
excellent food, all ingredients come from the family’s land. priced fairly compared to the quality of food.
I brought my women's yoga / hiking holiday group here for a fun night out! And what fun we had. We were greeted with smiles and hugs and scooped up into the family's world for a few glorious hours. We were hands on with the
I recently went to Platia for a cooking lesson as part of a Women's Retreat. Paraskeví (aka Friday) and Maria were so much fun to cook with, and such wonderful hostesses! Simply put, the food was FRESH and DELICIOUS, the recipes were easy to follow,
Wow ! Bravo !! Best time learning how to cook Greek food in this charming village restaurant. The food was outstanding; best I’ve had in Greece. So fresh as the ingredients come from the family’s farm. This is the real farm to table deal. Cannot
We ate ribs salad and of course local cheeses etc. Delicious local food. Congratulations to the cooks.
Wonderful family run business including the taverna, vegetable and fruits farm with nice walking tour. If you want to learn great recipes with take away instructions this is the place. The Papa even picked us up!
My wife and I participated in the best cooking class ever led by Voula and Maria in this charming restaurant. We were greeted and treated like family from the moment we arrived. Snacks and drinks were provided before the cooking class began and everything was
Well that’s what Nicoletta told us A nice little tavern with great views on the mountains. Great food at great prices at this family run place. You
This is one of the best tavernas I ve eaten in Naxos ! Amazing food, very polite stuff with options for vegans. The chickpeas dish is the best I ve eaten probably in my life, also the artichokes with the broad beans were incredible! For
Very good family tavern near Naxos at Galini village. It will only get you 10-15’ getting there, prefer early afternoon when there are no crowds. Prefer “cooked katsika” and pork with sweet Naxian potatoes . Papoutsakia were average. Do not miss the stuffed onions and
My travel agent recommended a family cooking class @ Platia it was amazing, all ingredients came from the family farm made in their fabulous outdoor kitchen. The cooking lesson includes lunch prep, light snacks, lunch, local wine and a tour of the farm. The family
Most meals at noon are in the oven or the pot (already cooked) all very delicious . In the night you eat grilled food .
Very good place to taste the traditional Naxos cuisine excluding fish. Very well cooked veal stews, aubergine in the oven, stuffed vegetables (gemista). Very good house red wine from Santorini. Well attended white veranda but with a view to the street.
Outstanding freshly grown ingredients perfectly prepared in the traditional Greek style. Every morsel is bursting with flavor! Go hungry, eat well!
Unbelievable traditional Naxian food, The specials, the daily dishes and the lamp chops were amazing. The owners are se welcome and kind people. You must visit!
We just had the most amazing cooking class at Platia Taverna in Galini!! The cooking was so much fun and the food was DELICIOUS!! Our best meal in Naxos! Can't wait to try and reproduce at home, although I am sure will not match:) The
This restaurant is located about 10-15 minutes drive from Hora in a beautiful village, Galini, that I strongly suggest to explore before or after your meal. Food was really great from salads and starters to main dishes and desserts. It has been many years since
This cookery course is amazing! The people are so friendly and welcoming. Everyone was able to get involved, including both children, aged 14 and 11. Once we had prepared the food, we were shown round the family farm, while it was cooking. The tour of the farm was so interesting to see fresh lemon trees, many other fruits and vegetables growing, roosters, and to learn how to irrigate it from the well. I would recommend this experience without reservation. It was certainly a highlight for our family! Thank you.
Traditional Greek cucine but with some exceptional dishes like the stuffed onions. I consider as a must restaurant to go and eat in Naxos. Worthwhile the time and distance.
We only stopped here briefly, on our way to yet another locked Byzantine church; but on the basis of our limited experience, we can certainly recommend this place. No sooner had we sat down on the terrace, than we were given a carafe of water,
Had a great experience at the cooking class - bigger group of about 15 people but they split it up. Allowed everyone to take part in the cooking and preparation. Provided recipes for the food and answered questions! We also got a tour of the farm from the owner who was interesting and humorous! He even let us try some figs growing on the tree!
Lovely home made food served in a very friendly and relaxing environment. The beef in lemon sauce as recommended was fantastic. I will definitely be making a return visit and next year my wife Anne is hoping to book a cookery course which I understand is held on site. Highly recommend a visit.
We did the cooking class. It was excellent!! Everyone was happy, friendly, and welcoming. The restaurant and cooking area was spotless. It was very well organized from start to finish. Everything was grown on their farm and raised on their farm—fresh and delicious. We made stuffed tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and zucchini, meatballs and tzatziki. While our food was cooking, we had a tour of their farm where we learned about the food they grow, (olives, potatoes, tomatoes, pumpkins, and much more). They are a lovely family and it was one of the highlights of our trip.
What a wonderful experience! We were at restaurant as part of a tour that included preparing/cooking a meal. It was a lot of fun working with Mrs. Voula and Maria. We also got to go to the family farm with Nicholas where all the vegetables are grown - got to eat a prickly pear freshly picked! After the farm we were back at the restaurant to eat the food we helped prepare! Very enjoyable! You will not be disappointed!
My wife and I came for a cooking class during our 25th wedding anniversary trip. The restaurant was extremely well prepared for our arrival, warm and friendly. Our host and master chef ]was Voula and Nikos gave us the farm tour (which was part of the class). We have done cooking classes in Costa Rica and the SF Bay Area, but this one was special. We felt part of the family. Voula gave us a few choices on the menu, and we prepared the meal with her assistance. The food was delicious and the whole dining experience very authentic. Beautiful drive to the small town from our hotel and very small quaint town. Recommend this class and experience.
Excellent food, real greek cuisine. Good service, very efficient. Local products, well served Reasonable price. The best restaurant we had in Naxos. Booking is recommended
We decided to try a cooking class in a traditional taverna in Naxos, and WOW were we blown away!!! Two families, 6 kids ages 8-13, all making the classic Greek dishes with farm to table ingredients. AMAZING! We started with some mezedes by our wonderful hosts, who couldn't be nicer! We then walked down to their orchards and then saw the fruits and vegetables that we would be cooking with! INCREDIBLE! The stories about how the farm to table movement in Naxos continues to this day were worth the price of admission alone! We then started cooking with the wonderful master chefs who taught us the ins and outs of Greek cuisine! We then ate the most delicious food and ended the day with some house wine. JUST INCREDIBLE! This is an authentic experience on a real farm with real Naxians and lots of love!!!! JUST WONDERFUL!!!!! EUXARISTW!!!!!!
In the centre of Galini, a truely traditional tavern where meat and vegetable specialties are at their best. I had chickpeas in the oven, delicious, and beef in tomato sauce. Huge servings at very reasonable price: 45,50 eur in 3. Good wifi and inside parking.
Very nice family-run typical taverna. Portions are generous and we were offered dessert at the end. Prices are low and the service is fast. Great option to eat typical Greek food away from tourist masses.
I booked the cooking class upon recommendation of our airb&b host in Naxos and when I got to Platia Tavern the other participants had had to cancel so I got a private class with the Chef/owner! The restaurant is bright and airy and the cooking class area was very well equipped. I cooked a huge tray of tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, zucchini stuffed with rice and herbs, some meatballs and tzatziki. While the vegetables were in the oven the Chef's son gave me a great tour of the farm that produces the fresh ingredients used for the restaurant's dishes which was very informative and interesting. Naxos has actual mountains and some areas of the islands are very fertile and look like actual green oasis. They grow citrus trees, apricot, peaches and the vegetable gardens are impressive. The food came out great, Galini is a lovely little village but the experience is memorable thanks to the warmth and generosity of the owners who are really passionate about their farm and restaurants. Highly recommended!
What a wonderful family run tavern! We spent 3 hours here for a private cooking class that I had arranged for my fiancee's 30th birthday. I initially thought it was quite expensive, but after doing the course, felt like it was worth every cent! The
Grandma is the chef. You cannot go wrong!! The stuffed onions are a MUST. Everything we ate here was incredible. Literally heard angels sing as I devoured the fresh salads, fresh cheeses, stuffed aubergines and special platia plates. The local wine was not our taste but the other wines on the list won. Family owned and run, get as much food as you can here because you will not regret it!
We really enjoyed this cooking class. Although we are a couple with grown children, the setup was good for both adults and kids (I would think middle school or older). The class was educational and fun, and we got to eat the results. We also had a tour of the family farm while things were in the oven. The staff was great.
We were a group of 6 ladies who really enjoyed Maria (and family) cooking class and tour of the family farm. The setting was beautiful, a $20 cab ride out of Naxos had us in this cute little village. We chopped, grated and shread and then had a tour of the farm where I enjoyed the best plum of my life! We then enjoyed the fruits of our labour- zucchini balls with tzakiki (to die for!) , beef meatballs, Greek salad, stuffed tomatoes, peppers and zucchini as well as a traditional dessert (orange flavoured, mini fried pieces of dough drizzled in honey❤️). They send the leftovers home with you which was very sweet. A great experience that I recommend!
Went with 2 kids, 2 adults, and everyone cooked and chopped. Hostess was so warm and wonderful! She showed us so much and we toured her sons' farm while the food was in the oven. This was by far one of our favorite activities from
Absolutely lovely cooking class with fresh and local ingredients. We got to participate in every step and we got to decide what to cook from certain list. Our group, 2 adults 4 kids had a lovely time!😊😊 We also liked the farm tour which was
Wow! The best experience had in Naxos. Our visit included a cooking class, a tour of the farm, and dinner. Simply wonderful. They were so thoughtful to include items in the menu without gluten. The eggplant dish was phenomenal. There is nothing like farm to
Our group of seven people had the cooking class with Nick’s Mom and his cousin Maria. They taught us how to make stuffed tomatoes, eggplants and zucchini. We also learned how to make meat balls and tzatziki, lamb and potato stew. All ingredients were fresh
We did a lot of amazing things in Naxos, but this may have been our favorite! You walk in to the restaurant and they have a long table set up for you and the others. They serve you fresh cheese, fruits, and drinks as you
My husband and teen children (15 and 17yo) so enjoyed our time with the lovely Platia Tavern family. This isn't so much a cooking "lesson" as an interactive cooking experience. They'll throw you an onion first thing and have you start chopping! Which is great,
WOW! We will never forget this experience. We started by eating some delicious cheeses, jam, tomatoes and olives and drinking Kitron. We learned and made stuffed bell peppers, zucchini and tomatoes followed by fried beef meatballs and tzatziki. Nikos showed us his farm and even
