Experience the Greek tradition and hospitality and gain insight into one of natureâs most basic fruits and staples of the Mediterranean diet.
Take part in a delightful free tasting of everything olive oil and more: from Greek olive varieties to speciality infused olive oils, homemade seasonal marmalades, and vegan olive oil sweets. Today, the original stone-built structure has been elegantly refurbished to evoke a sense of tradition updated in a contemporary white Cycladic design. The olive press has been in the Lianos family (the owners) for at least five generations and was recently restored.
The exhibition area features original production materials once used at the site. Here, visitors can enjoy a free tour and a brief presentation of how olive oil was originally produced at that time.
Adjoining the exhibition area is the olive shop 'nook' where olive tastings take place and a selection of olive oil product souvenirs are available. After the free tour, visitors can enjoy complimentary tastings of a variety of infused olive oils and olive ingredient snacks, such as Mama's famously delicious olive bread, cake, cookies and more.
The patio outside is a soothing place to lay back and relax and enjoy local refreshments. Have a seat and indulge in the natural habitat of Engares, the village of Naxos known for its verdant fertile landscape, before continuing your exploration in Naxos.

Olive Press Café
Have a bit of extra time, perhaps after biking or hiking nearby trails, or exploring the picturesque villages and gorgeous beaches of Naxos? The Engares Olive Press café offers a lovely outdoor patio in which to relax enjoy an authentic and Naxos-inspired snack. Cool off with a beverage such as iced herbal tea, glass of local wine, or aperitif ouzo or the local citron (kitron) liqueur. Revive with a spoon sweet preserve made with Engares oranges or a serving of Naxos fava (split chick pea pureé) or hummus. Set in the scenic location of the Engares valley — with olive groves, evergreen trees, wild shrubs and aromatic herbs — Engares is considered one of the Naxos’ most verdant villages.
The hosts treated us like family and the renovated olive press is unique. The shop has lots of goodies to take back home for gifts
