This private excursion for individuals or groups of up to 4 people, Mr. Manolis, the pottery workshop owner, will first show you the vast collection of unique creations that he has created with his hands and will tell you the story of his family - all traditional ceramists - that came from island of Sifnos.
This tour is a offers a fascinating glimpse into the past when pottery of this kind was used for cooking, storage, utensils decoration and much more. Mr. Manolis keeps the tradition of ancient pottery alive.
You will also learn about the history of the village of Damalas and the rich history of pottery in the village which goes back many hundreds of years due to the earth in and around the village being a rich natural source of clay.
Next, you will have the chance to create your very own creations in clay with expert help and tuition of Mr. Manolis. A wonderful experience no matter how young or old you are. You will have the chance to create traditional Naxian ceramics for a wide variety of uses whether functional or decorative. When you leave you will have the opportunity to purchase wonderful artefacts that can make perfect souvenirs. Raku ceramics are also available to buy as well as traditional utensils like Pythagoras' cup (or "the cup of justice").
