Naxos is known to be one of the most fertile and green islands of the Cyclades. We are blessed to enjoy small natural treasures, such as organic fruit, vegetables, and savory dairy products some of which are globally known.
In the mountainous village Filoti, you will visit a local sheepfold, where a shepherd will take you step by step through the process of making cheese.
The final and most important step for you is to try it and enjoy it! After we're done there, we will visit the museum of olive oil in the village of Eggares. Let's try the Greek famous "liquor of gold" which is produced by thousands of years old olive trees.
Of course, you can not miss the famous "Citron" of Naxos which is distilled in the village of Halki. "Citron" is a liqueur made out of the citron leaves trees. A very unique product with a history that dates back to 1896.
Finally, you will stroll around the alleys of the mountainous village, Apiranthos, and you'll get to try the local "Zamboni". Salty and spicy prosciutto (like ham) which is only produced in that village.
